Suri alpacas were first imported into the United States in 1991 from Bolivia,
Chile and Peru. The fiber on a Suri grows down in long, separate distinct
locks. Suri fiber has high luster and an exquisite softness unlike any other
fiber known to man. Suri fiber comes in 22 natural colors as well as multi-colored. Suris are shorn once a year and produce approximately 10 pounds
of fiber a year. Suri fiber contains no lanolin, and is non-allergenic.
It is 7 times warmer than sheep wool.
Suri alpacas emanate extraordinary vigor, intelligence, ease of breeding and
adaptability to hot and cold climates.
Suri alpacas provide substantial tax relief benefits and are a profitable lifestyle.
They are very earth-friendly herd animals with padded feet and are the
perfect livestock for small or large acreage ranches.
Suris cost less to feed than a dog. They eat about 3 pounds of grass hay daily
plus supplemental mineral pellets.
Suris are gentle, intelligent, and are easy to care for by all ages.
There are only approximately 11,000 Suri alpacas in North America today. The colored
Suris are the rarest of the rare!
Suri alpacas are truly the aristocrat of the livestock world! |
